FIDE PDC Launches 2025 Development Fund Cycle with Successful Webinar

The FIDE Planning and Development Commission (PDC) successfully launched the 2025 Development Fund cycle with an informative webinar attended by over 45 federation representatives. The session introduced key updates to the funding process, including a new application procedure via an online survey, mandatory budget breakdowns, and a preliminary pitch meeting before formal submission.

Federations had the opportunity to ask questions and receive clarifications ahead of their applications, ensuring they fully understand the updated process. The new guidelines, which outline these changes in detail, are available on the PDC website for reference.

PDC Chair Laurent Freyd expressed his optimism about the refinements, stating, “We are pleased to introduce a more structured approach that ensures federations can better articulate their development needs. These changes will enhance the impact of FIDE’s support, helping federations expand and strengthen chess in their communities worldwide.”

As a reminder, national federations can apply for funding of up to €7,000 to support their development initiatives. Additionally, FIDE zones and continental associations are also eligible to submit proposals for projects aimed at advancing chess within their regions.

Federations that received 2024 funding are reminded to submit their financial reports, as compliance is a factor in 2025 funding eligibility.
